Nobody actually sits on top of a pile of Dollars, Euros, Yens, Yuans, Riyals and Rubles. Money circulates continuously amongst institutions, corporations, organizations, nations and people and frequently only shows up on spreadsheets and bank statements. The economy of every single nation is now linked with the rest of the world through trade, loans and business exchanges. Cold, hard cash constitutes the only common thread through the current chaos and has become the very principle of power. Unfortunately, this high-volume vortex of wealth does not reach everybody in the same way.

80% of the world population own only 14% of the world's wealth. 50% of the world population live on less than 2 US$ a day and own only 6% of the world's wealth. 20% of the world population live on less than 1 US$ a day and own nothing.

Up to 80% of the people of the world can be classified as poor and are therefore consistently shut out of the possibility of ever coming near to a comfortable standard of living. Economic apartheid exists even within the borders of the richest nations on earth and amounts to an internationally sanctioned state of economic slavery.
